About Valentina Sterling

Valentina is a sports physical therapist, and she came to the work through sport rather than through theory: soccer, swimming and gymnastics as a kid, shadowing at a sports medicine clinic in high school, then a Kinesiology degree at the University of Florida in 2018 and a Doctor of Physical Therapy at Duke in 2021 with more than thirty weeks of clinical rotations, a sports residency, and board specialization after that.

She writes our movement guides from the questions she asks in clinic: what was the actual protocol, what did the study measure, and who was in the room. That means naming the dose a trial used rather than the headline it earned, keeping the distance between moving a lab marker and getting someone back to running, and being clear that a guide is not a rehab plan β€” for pain, an injury or a new diagnosis, the next step is an in-person assessment.
